San Diego Athlete Named AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year at AAU Beach Nationals in Hermosa Beach

Stanford Volleyball commit Charlie Ekstrom was crowned the AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year this weekend at AAU Beach Nationals in Hermosa Beach.
HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. (July 16, 2018) – Stanford Volleyball commit Charlie Ekstrom was crowned the AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year this weekend at AAU Beach Nationals in Hermosa Beach.
Ekstrom is the only U18 female to win three Southern Pacific Grand Prix Series tournament and did so with three different partners. She won the Santa Monica Pier 360 Ocean Sports Beach Festival, the California Regional Championship and Southern Pacific District Championship.
Other athletes to be named AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year include current Stanford Volleyball standout Kathryn Plummer, 2017 NCAA runner-up Skylar Caputo from Pepperdine and two-time NCAA Champion Sara Hughes from USC.
