AAU Districts give back to our athletes through scholarships, awards, and grants

ORLANDO, Fla. (January 31, 2024) – The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is dedicated to the growth of our athletes both on and off the playing surface. Through scholarships, grant programs, and other award programs, AAU districts across the country help set up our athletes for ultimate success.
AAU Districts have a tradition of giving back to their athletes. Part of this tradition is through awarding AAU participants with scholarships and grants to continue to grow our athletes and the sports they love. These are a few of the AAU Districts that are giving back.
Middle Atlantic AAU District’s Scholarship and Award Program
The Middle Atlantic AAU District has a goal of financially aiding Middle Atlantic District AAU members to achieve their athletic and academic dreams, to recognize and acknowledge their contributions as valued citizens of our AAU community, and to raise awareness of the critical role that AAU participation plays in the lives of America’s youth.
Scholarships and awards range in size from $1,000 to $5,000 and help AAU athletes, coaches, and volunteers. Middle Atlantic AAU gives out a high school scholarship award, collegiate scholarship award, and Volunteer/Coach of the Year awards. Ohio AAU District’s Grant Program
The Ohio AAU District Board of Governors is working to create high quality and competitive AAU events in the Ohio District. The purpose of this Grant Program is to grow the overall youth membership in AAU by increasing the number of members, sanctioned events, and programs in Ohio.
Ohio AAU Sport Directors & members who submit a written grant proposal, which is accepted by the Board, are awarded grant money to run events. Acceptance by the Board means that the grant request (in the view of the Board) demonstrates a sound business proposal to grow the number of Ohio AAU Sanctioned Events & Programs in their Sport. Georgia AAU District’s Betty Lowe Citizenship Award
The Georgia AAU District gives even more value and meaning to being a member of the Amateur Athletic Union with their Betty Lowe Citizenship Award. Graduating high school seniors who have played with AAU at any time have an opportunity to receive $1,000 for their continued education.
Individual awards are given in the amount of $1,000 each to ten lucky applicants. Awards will be given to graduating High School Seniors that have participated in AAU events either currently or at any time in the past. This award is intended to assist the students with continuing education expenses at college, universities, or trade schools as we continue to value the standup citizens our AAU members become.
